[…] WRTC, the radio station at Trinity College, has been awarded a $2,000 College Radio Bret Grant, making it one of just five college radio stations in the U.S. to receive this recognition. Funded by Bret Michaels’ Life Rocks Foundation in partnership with the College Radio Foundation (CRF), the grants aim to support stations showcasing their potential through essays outlining intended use of funds. Michaels, the lead singer of the band Poison, has dedicated his efforts to charitable causes, particularly supporting diabetic children. This year, CRF announced ten grants totaling $20,000, with WRTC’s long-standing commitment to rock music exemplified by its rock coordinator and host of “The Boris Rock Show,” who has been on air for over 20 years. The selection process was highly competitive, with hundreds of stations applying for this valuable funding opportunity. Source link […]

[…] Trinity’s policy on demonstrations and protests has come under fire in the past several years, with students pointing out protests that “do not obstruct or disrupt the educational mission and regular and/or essential operations of the institution” are difficult to interpret and enforce. Students who helped author the policy expressed dissatisfaction with how it was being practiced, calling the section “narrowly defined,” and voiced that the policy was self-defeating, as “protests are, by their nature, disruptive.” […]

The author writes that we ought not to coddle 'male mediocrity'. She also asserts that 'this trend is especially pronounced among Black and Hispanic men, who face even greater obstacles in pursuing higher education'.
