3 min read

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, the world lost an angel. Ryan Elizabeth Chisholm was a beautiful, brave, bright, and witty young lady. Ryan passed away with her mother and father by her side in New York City. Ryan was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and charismatic friend. Ryan was born in New York City, and was raised in Manhattan, San Francisco and Southampton. She had a passionate flare for life that will be sorely missed.

A sophomore at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, Ryan was focused on Philosophy and Art, and was planning her studies abroad. Ryan will always be remembered for her keen intellect, artistic soul, and love of music. Ryan was all about fun, and she made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Last summer Ryan was an intern at Greystone working in real estate finance and technology. Ryan had developed a new passion concerning the usage of pioneering technologies, including social media and AI.

Ryan lived with a deep sensitivity, sharp observation, clever humor, and forever probing intellect. From an early age she surrounded herself with as many books as possible, reading them each from cover to cover with zest and great care, and often rereading material that she had already committed to memory. Ryan loved playing the piano and skiing; she relished holidays with family and friends in the Caribbean and Europe. She was an avid equestrian and won championships at several showjumping events in California and New York. Ryan loved animals, especially her dogs, Noodles and Fritz.

Ryan Elizabeth’s promising life was cut short by a tragic accident.

Ryan is survived by her adoring parents, Theresa and Scott, cherished sister, Shannon, treasured grandmother, Cara, many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins, and numerous dear friends.

Visitation for Ryan was held Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Frank Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Avenue, located at 81st Street, in Manhattan. A word of remembrance took place on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 869 Lexington Avenue (cross street East 66th Street) in Manhattan. Burial was directly after mass at the Southampton Cemetery, 545 North Sea Road, Southampton, NY.

A memorial mass for Ryan will be held in the chapel on the campus of Trinity College, 300 Summit Street, Hartford, CT, on Wednesday, November 9th at 4pm. Cards and flowers can be left in the Friendship Chapel or in the Chapel’s Office. After the memorial service, the cards will be given to Ryan’s family.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.frankecampbell.com for the Chisholm family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be directed to two charities that held meaning for Ryan: Operation Exodus (operationexodus.org), which benefits inner city children and families living in Washington Heights, NY, and the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons or ARF (arfhamptons.org).
