Over Thanksgiving Break, the Trinity Men’s Basketball team played four games, two of which were regular season games and the other two were at the Harbor Invitational, which Trinity won.
On Nov. 21 Trinity lost their first game to Springfield on 80-69, but rebounded by winning its next three. On Nov. 24, Trinity defeated Farmingham State 71-60. Shay Ajayi ’16 recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, nine of which came on the defensive end. Jaquann Starks ’16 was leading scorer, finishing with 13 points, and shooting 4-10 from the field. Trinity finished the game with a total of 46 rebounds, compared to Farmingham State’s 27. Trinity’s bench contributed 30 points.
A week later, Trinity played Maine Fort Kent in a one-sided game, which Trinity won 90-51. Ed Ogundeko ’17 had his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds, 11 of which came on the defensive end. Jaquann Starks ’16 finished with 17 points, and shooting 50% (6-12 FG). Andrew Hurd ’16 ended the game with nine assists. Trinity racked up a total of 47 rebounds, in addition to a total of 21 assists. Additionally, the bench again showed their worth by putting up a combined 37 points. With this win, Trinity would face UMass-Boston in the finals of the Harbor Invitational.
On Nov. 28, Trinity defeated UMass Boston 77-54 to clinch the Harbor Invitational. Shay Ajayi ’16 grabbed 11 rebounds, and Ed Ogundeko ’17 had a monster performance scoring 22 points (9-15 FG) and grabbing 15 rebounds. Andrew Hurd ’16 finished with 6 assists, and Jaquann Starks ’16 put up 19 points (7-15 FG) to go along with 4 assists and 6 rebounds. Trinity controlled the boards with 48 to end the game as well as 21 assists. Trinity had 21 points off the bench to help secure the Harbor Invitational. The season looks bright for the Trinity men’s basketball team, who has started the season strong with a 3-1 record.
