Many meets have occurred in the weeks between the fall and spring semesters, as all of the winter sports athletes have been hard at work practicing, training and competing. The Trinity Women’s Swim team has not been enjoying their most successful season this time around, as their current record is 0-11 overall, in addition to a 5th out of 6th place finish at the Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan. The team has a two-week break before their next meet, which will be the NESCAC Championships hosted by Middlebury on February 12-14. All eleven NESCAC teams will be in attendance, fighting for the conference title. Despite their losing record, several Bantams have stepped up and made a name for themselves this season. Casey Crowley ’19 and Lauren D’Angelo ’19 have consistently won individual races and relays in a variety of strokes. Eliza Maciag ’17 has also contributed several notable performances to glean points for Trinity.
The Trinity Men’s Swim team has fared better than their female counterparts this 2015-2016 season. Overall, the Bantams have earned a record of 2-1-6, in addition to a fourth place finish out of four teams at the Connecticut Cup. The Bantams finished off their regular season with a 153-132 win against Roger Williams this past Saturday. The men have almost three weeks until their next contest, which will be the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams February 20-22. Look out for Nick Celestin ’16 who specializes is both backstroke and butterfly, as he has been enjoying a stellar senior season with the Bantams. Impressively, he has not lost an individual race to date. While the entire team may be lagging behind their expectations, there are still many bits of exciting action for the Bantams in the pool.
