Men's Lacrosse Loses Against Babson and Bowdoin

Men’s Lacrosse dropped two tough contests this past week, as they travelled north to Massachusetts to take on Babson, and then faced the Bowdoin Polar Bears Saturday in a NESCAC conference game. The loses drop the Bantams to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
In Tuesday’s contest, Babson got off to a fast start, and controlled the first half. In the first quarter, the Beavers netted a couple of tallies past goalie Woody Hamilton ’18, before breaking open the contest with six second quarter goals to take an 0-8 lead going into halftime.
The Bants were finally able to get on the board in the third with goals from Ben Ferruci ‘20 and Troy Hanlon ’19. However, Babson was able to net a few more goals of their own, fending off Trinity’s attack.
Trinity gave one final push as they scored the first four goals of the final quarter, but it was too little too late. Hanlon added two more tallies for the hat trick, and midfielders John Caraviello ’18 and Ben MacShane ’19 also scored, but the Bants ultimately fell to the Beavers 6-17.
In Saturday’s contest, the Bantams were able to score first, due to a goal from Ben Knaus ’19. However, Bowdoin managed to respond with five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead. Right before the end of the half, Trinity’s Caraviello ’18 and Knaus each scored to cut the lead to 3-5 headed into halftime.
The Polar Bears came out firing to start the second half and netted four tallies to pull away with a 3-9 lead that the Bantams couldn’t overcome. Trinity’s Hanlon ’19 and Knaus were credited with goals in the fourth quarter, and Knaus finished with a game-high four goals. But Bowdoin’s Jimmy Young, Shawn Daly, and Brett Kujala also scored, sealing the victory at 6-12 for Bowdoin.
