Men's Lacrosse 2-3 Over Break, Beats Skidmore, Emmanuel

The Men’s Lacrosse Team came out of spring vacation with an overall record of 2-3. After the opening day loss to Williams College, the Bants were able to rally with a dominating victory in an away game against Skidmore College up in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Bantams let up the first goal at the 13:41 mark, but would go on to rip off six goals in a row that would not be matched by Skidmore ending the first quarter with an impressive 6-1 lead. Skidmore wouldn’t give up, they were able to score a couple quick goals and cut the lead to three but Stallman ’18, Ben MacShane ’19, and Teddy Myers ’18 all were able to score goals in response to Skidmore’s comeback attempt. The Bantams were then up 9-3 and would not look back tallying on three more goals and coming to a decisive 12-7 victory. They would then return to the Coop for their first home game against the Colby Mules. As the temperature started to drop, the Bantams and Mules met off in a freezing matchup. Unfortunately, the Bantams were in a freeze in the fourth quarter unable to score against the Mules and falling to a 2-0 deficit. Just before the half ended the Bantams decided to turn it up a notch when Jack Sharrio ’18 and Alex Notman ’19 scored two goals in under ten seconds, to go into the half only down one goal. Much like the first quarter the Bantams could not get anything going in the third period falling down two more goals to go into a 5-2 deficit going into the last period. The last period was even between the two teams, both of them scoring three more goals to end with a Bantam loss 8-5. The Game against Stevens was postponed and then final cancelled because of the storm here in the Northeast but the team was back in action on the weekend playing Bates and Emmanuel. The Bantams would host an undefeated Bates team at Jesse/Miller Field on Saturday. Their skill proved to match their record, although the Bantams did jump up to a 2-1 lead in the first six minutes, the lead would soon disappear and at the end of the first period the Bantams found themselves down 5-2. The lead was cut to just two when Jack Sharrio ’18 scored on an assist from Matt Gardiner ’20 for a 6-4 game. The score was 7-4 at the break, but the third quarter would be all Bobcat’s as they scored 5 goals in comparison to Trinity’s one. In the fourth period the teams traded a pair of goals each but the victory would end up in the Bobcats hands as the deficit proved too much to overcome for the Bantams. The weekend would turn around though for the Men’s Lacrosse Team as they took on Emmanuel College. Trinity dominated the entire game outscoring Emmanuel in every quarter of the game. The scoring was led by Ben MacShane ’19 and Jack Stallman ’18 who each finished with a pair of goals, Matt Gardiner ’20 also a big contributor with two assists. The Bantams finished the break with an overall record of 2-3, and look forward to a big in conference game at Tufts this Saturday.
