The Trinity Bantams took a tough two losses after a big opening 14-9 win over Westfield State, which was led by slugger Brendan Pierce ’18, who had a double, five RBI, a home run, and two runs.
On the weekend of Mar. 25, the Bantams traveled down to Alumni Field in New London, CT to take on the Mitchell College Mariners. The first game was a brutal opening to the away series as the Bantams lost 0-12. The second game began much better for the Bantams as they took off with a 8-2 lead at the end of the third.
Both Ricky Spencer ’17 and Cooper Mooney ’18 knocked in two runs a piece for the Bantams while five others contributed to the Trinity scoreboard. However Mitchell was able to make a big three-run push in the sixth inning followed by four runs in the seventh.
Although Trinity regained the games in bottom of the seventh, the Mariners snatched the win for good in the eighth.
