The  Men’s and Women’s Squash teams both had exemplary performances this weekend, both winning all of their overall sets.

The women’s squash team performed extremely well against Bates and Bowdoin, perhaps even more so than the men. They finished with overall scores of 8-1 against Bates and 9-0 against Bowdoin. The women have gone 2-1 so far this season following their previous defeat at the hands of Stanford, making these victories extremely important.

The men’s squash team has also started off their season strong with two decisive victories over Bates, 7-2, and Bowdoin, 9-0. One of the highlights from the match against Bates was Mudit Pant ’19, who won his sets 11-6, 11-2, and 11-8 in the No. 8 spot on the ladder, and led the team in their match against Bates with his breakout performance. Meanwhile, Bantam sophomore Rick Penders ’18 went toe to toe with Bates’ defending national champion Ahmed Abdel Khlalek, ultimately losing in four sets. The men then routed Bowdoin at the same event, bringing their overall record this season to 3-0.

On Monday Dec. 7, both teams took on Dartmouth in the lone home match of the fall semester. The women won 7-2 with stellar performances by Alexia Echevarria ’17 and Salma El-Defrawy ’18, who just came off injury.

On the men’s side, the Bantams shut out the Big Green 9-0, following Dartmouth’s upset of perennial powerhouse Harvard. Afeeq Ismail ’17 and James Davis ’18, among others, churned out straight set victories.

The teams have about a month before their next matches. They will face Drexel on Jan. 5 and Navy on Jan. 6.
