As a student-run newspaper, the Tripod is always looking for volunteers to help us with the weekly operations of the Tripod in various ways. If you are interested in any of the positions below or one that is not listed, please email tripod@trincoll.edu or fill out our interest form and we will be happy to work with you. No experience is required, and we will help you learn and build your position as it fits you. Some of the non-writing positions you can hold with the Tripod include:
Photographer
Staff photographers for the Tripod often accompany writers to events to take photos that will accompany articles. Photographers can also help with annual headshots, photos for social media, and Along the Long Walk articles.
Videographer
While the Tripod does not currently use videos online, a videographer for the Tripod would have the opportunity to build a multi-media component for the paper which could be integrated into our website and socials.
Business Manager
A Tripod Business Manager would run the paper’s financials and work to drive advertising.
Graphic Design Editor
Graphic Design Editors help to build the weekly Tripod print issues using Adobe Indesign.
Cartoonist
A Cartoonist for the Tripod would work with writers to create content for Bits & Pieces, and potentially help create merchandise or content for social media.
Social Media Editor
Tripod Social Media Editors help run the paper’s socials (mainly Instagram). This can include building the paper’s weekly carousel, creating graphics for promotional purposes, and founding a social media strategy that promotes the paper.
Puzzle Editor
A Puzzle Editor would create puzzles such as crosswords, sudoku, or anything else that they may be interested in for the Bits & Pieces section. They also may help others create puzzles, or ensure puzzle submissions are edited.
