Softball Cleans Up

The Trinity College softball team snatched a 13-9 victory in the third game of the series claiming the sweep of the Bates Bobcats on Apr. 10 in NESCAC softball action. Rachael Smith ’18 and Cassia Armstrong both notched wins from the pitcher’s circle. With the win, Trinity moved to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play while Bates fell to 0-18 on the year.

Second base-woman Elizabeth MCQuaid ’19 continued her outstanding performance this season with 4 runs and a RBI, totaling 14 runs for the season and raising her slugging percentage to .534.

Shortstop Courtney Erickson ’19 was honored as the NESCAC Softball Player of the Week for her tremendous play in two wins over Eastern Connecticut her stellar performance versus Bates in the first two games of the season.  In the third game she kept up the momentum with a home run to seal the deal.

Softball has come a long way since the years  past in performance. They currently rest atop the NESCAC East division with the ever-dominant Tufts. It will be a challenging road ahead but the girls have proven they are ready.
