Trinity baseball prides themselves on the culture they build within their locker room and off the field. They currently sit at 14-14 on the season and fourth in the NESCAC East division. The Bantams defeated Tufts twice this past weekend in a three game series. Saturday’s first matchup against the Jumbos celebrated the four graduating seniors, Tyler Colditz ’25, Johnny Link ’25, Jake Leonard ’25 and Tommy Fahey ’25. Highlights of the weekend included Timothy Domizio ’28 going 4-4 at bat in Saturday’s first game and the Bantams scoring a season high 19 runs during Friday’s matchup. The Bantams began the season 1-5 but slowly found their groove as they are 6-1 in their last 7 games.. Led by captains Leonard and Dylan Schnitzer ’26, the Bantams have collected a four game winning streak in out of conference play. The team took a trip to St. Lawrence University, where they not only won the series but swept the weekend 3-0 against the Saints. Joe Capano ’26 had a stellar performance on the mound in the first matchup, pitching seven innings while striking out five batters and only allowing three hits. Schnitzer led the way at the plate and went 6-8 on the weekend. The three wins at St. Lawrence propelled the Bantams to another out of conference win against Nichols College. Aidan Stevenson ’28 went 3-4 at the plate with two runs batted in (RBIs) in the Bantams 7-3 win.

The Tripod was able to sit down with captain Jake Leonard and discuss the team’s recent success and how they can finish the season on a high note before playoffs. Leonard has been a pivotal part of the squad this year; the catcher earned his team’s vote as co-captain and has contributed at the plate with seven RBIs on the season. Leonard preached about the team’s willingness to stay together after their rocky start, stating, “Obviously things at the beginning of the year weren’t going how we’d imagined, but no one gave in and we all stuck together. We’ve been preaching all year to play for the guy next to you and recently we have been doing that, whether it’s guys stepping up in big spots or picking the next guy up to get the job done.”

The Bantams have stayed true to this mentality as they have had contributing success from every part of the roster. Stellar first-year players Domizio, Brett Stone ’28 and Ryder Aubin ’28 have stepped into a larger role as all three players have starting spots. The Bantams boast a large first-year class with 16 newcomers joining the team this season. Leonard expressed great enthusiasm for the team’s bonding that has occurred over the course of the school year, saying “This team’s chemistry is phenomenal; we truly are a bunch of best friends who love to compete with one another. Relationships have definitely evolved as the year has gone on and it’s only going to benefit us as the season progresses.” He continued, “Just going back to what I said before [about] playing for the guy next to you and understanding we are not 32 individuals, we’re one team, [that] will allow us to play our best baseball.” The Bantams return to DiBenedetto Stadium on April 23 for a 6 p.m. tilt against the Amherst Mammoths.
