As of around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the bathroom facilities in Raether Library & Information Technology Center were reported unusable due to a water main break. As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, water in the College’s main library is still shut off as facilities staff members were seen cleaning restrooms in the buildings, which had been subject to overflows since the time of the break. Austin Arts Center has also been reported to be impacted by the break.

The Library remains open 24/7, and library staff were told to use bathrooms in neighboring buildings. As of 9:30 a.m., no email has been sent out to students and the wider campus community to notify them of the issue, although library staff did receive internal emails regarding the issues with facilities.

Peter B’s, the campus coffee shop in the library, has been closed since 9 p.m. on Wednesday. On their Instagram, the coffee shop noted, “The Library has no water. We can’t do too much without it so unfortunately we are closing at 9 tonight. We hope to see you in the morning but at this moment we have no answers.”  The Tripod has reached out to facilities for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
