The Trinity College Men’s Wrestling team had a mostly successful week thanks to victories against the Daniel Webster Eagles, 45-11, and the Rhode Island College Anchormen, 30-25. However, the Bantams dropped a meet to Bridgewater State, 30-15. Following these meets, the Bantams have finished their dual-match season with a 7-11 record.
The victory against Daniel Webster started off with five forfeits in the Bantams’ favor, but the meet got moving once John Davis III ’19 earned three points by defeating Wilon Pelot with a 7-4 score. Trinity captain Lucian Cascino ’18 won by pin at the 48 second mark of the first period in the heavyweight class, helping seal Trinity’s victory.
Against Rhode Island, Trinity led 6-0 after a victory by Drew Saccone ’19, but dropped the lead until a pair of forfeits pushed Trinity ahead. While Anchorman Victor Zabulu won by pin to put Rhode Island in the lead once more, Cascino was able to clinch the final match in order to achieve the win. Against Bridgewater State, Mike Lofrese ’16 and rookie Grant Soresen ’19 were able to accomplish significant victories, but the Bears culminated a six game winning streak to put the meet out of reach for the Bantams.
The Bantams will wrestle again on Feb. 21 in the NEWA Futures Tournament.
