Fearful Spring Weekend Attendee
April has arrived, and there is still no news of Trinity’s Spring Weekend headliner. “I’m scared,” Bryan Goldstein ’27 told the Tripod. “I didn’t think it could get worse than Bryce Vine and those…other guys…they had last year, but at least they were better than nothing.”
This fear seems to be widespread among Trinity’s student body. “All my friends are hearing about all the actually relevant people other schools are getting for their spring concerts,” Kayleigh McGill ‘28 said. “Like, Yale has Zara Larsson and UConn has Quavo. What’s next, is Wesleyan going to bring in Taylor Swift?”
However, there may be a potential (but no less irrelevant) headliner: country musician Kid Rock. Barnyard EAC revealed exclusively to the Tripod that they have been in correspondence with Rock over the past week, and that he is “very eager” to perform at Spring Weekend. “He keeps sending emails,” said Barnyard executive board member Ivan Kinkaid ’26. “You would think he might have better things to do after playing that ‘All-American Halftime Show’ during the Super Bowl, but apparently it didn’t do wonders for his image. Who would have thought.”
Apparently, all of Rock’s emails have been sent in all caps and bear, as Kinkaid put it, “a striking resemblance to a Trump tweet.” “I mean, look,” Kinkaid said, and pulled up the e-mail chain on his phone. There were at least ten emails from Rock over the past two days with subject lines such as “SPRING WEEKEND THEME IDEA: BALD EAGLES?”, “QUESTION ABOUT MEANING OF ‘LIBERAL’ ARTS”, and “LET ME IN”.
When asked if Barnyard was considering having Rock play at the concert, Kinkaid responded: “Well, things aren’t looking good for us right now. I know the guy has some, um, unconventional beliefs, but with our budget, we have to make the best of what we’ve got. At least the Pike brothers will be having a good time, right?”
The conversation was suddenly interrupted by Kinkaid getting another e-mail from Rock, with the subject line NVM. The e-mail contained the following message: “NEVER MIND. I JUST BOOKED THE VERY HUGE EVENT, MAGAFEST 2026, IN DETROIT MICHIGAN. YOUR RADICAL LEFT ‘LIBERAL ARTS’ SCHOOL COULDN’T HANDLE ME ANYWAY. SEE YOU NEVER NERDS.”
Barnyard later informed the Tripod that they are now hoping to get Yuno Miles as a replacement.
