Each semester, Trinity College publishes the names of students who have earned faculty honors in the term prior. This spring, however, the list of Fall 2025 honors scholars looks a bit different as the Office of the President has released a version covered in black rectangles, almost fully redacted. When asked to comment on their action, the Office of the President took the opportunity to contextualize the decision as part of a campus-wide initiative aimed at curbing the social targeting of bookish students. The office cited “…a rise in anti-intellectualism and, honestly, a deep sense that nothing we do at this point could ever be that bad when you really think about it.”

While faculty have released a despondent statement concluding with the statement, “…honestly, whatever at this point…” students have voiced concerns over the redactions, claiming that the lack of transparency by the administration impedes their ability to avoid academic gunners. Some students have since taken matters into their own hands through social media, calling on hacktivist group Trinonymous to uncover the names. President Daniel Lugo has responded directly to these calls on X, posting at 1:34 a.m., “there are literal predatores in the White House,” accompanied by a GIF of Jonah Hill appearing frustrated. He then deleted and reposted the same message with the correct spelling of “predators” at 1:36 a.m. Trinonymous has yet to respond to the president or register as an official Trinity College organization on BantamLink.
