On Sunday, Mar. 1, Trinity College’s men’s basketball team beat Wesleyan University on their home court. The final score was 80 to 55, with Trinity’s Jarrel Okorougo ‘26 scoring 11 points in just the first four minutes of the second half, helping Trinity clench a clean lead after a tightly contested first half.
Six three-pointers were scored in the last several minutes of the game, three of which came from 2025 MVP Henry Vetter ‘26. Jared Berry ‘27 had a last minute bucket to solidify the 25 point gap. The victory comes as the team’s third consecutive NESCAC championship, and follows their 2025 Division III Championship title. “It was terrific to win our third straight NESCAC championship. We just worked hard and prepared all week for the NESCAC championships. Our players are very tough and resilient,” says head coach James Cosgrove, who is in his sixteenth season leading the team. Cosgrove clarifies that the previous success of the team has no influence on success to come, telling the Tripod that “last year is over and in the past. Each season is a new year and a new endeavor. We just take one game, one day at a time.” Trinity is the second team in NESCAC history to win three-straight NESCAC Men’s Basketball titles, following Amherst’s achievement in their 2012-2015 seasons.
The Bantams will face off against Keuka College on March 6 at 7pm in the Oosting Gym. It will be the first game of the Division III tournament.
