This academic year, the College is welcoming two new staff members to positions that play a vital role in shaping student life and building towards a safe, inclusive campus. Lauren Diana, J.D., the new Title IX coordinator, and Julissa Pabon, the new director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), have officially joined the institution’s staff.

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that applies broadly to athletics, admissions, financial aid, housing and all aspects of student life. Lauren Diana, who joins the college as the new Title IX coordinator after the position was run by an interim coordinator for a year, brings a range of experiences, including legal training as a recent graduate of New England Law School in Boston, higher education experience as an education intern at Casa De Maryland and exposure to family and public interest law as an intern at Diana, Conti, & Tunilla LLP. This new role will serve as the starting point of her professional career since law school.  The Title IX coordinator position is central to ensuring that the college meets federal obligations under Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education. The coordinator serves as the point person for addressing issues of sexual misconduct, harassment and gender-based inequities while also providing education to prevent such incidents through workshops and training. In this role, Diana is tasked with “ensuring that Trinity establishes and follows a prompt, thorough and equitable process for addressing allegations of sexual misconduct and discrimination or differential treatment based on sex,” according to Trinity’s website. Students can get in contact with this office by going in person to Mather Hall, room 2008, by email (titleixcoordinator@trincoll.edu) or by phone (860-297-2688).
The OMA director works to support underrepresented student communities and celebrate the diversity of the campus. Julissa Pabon, who is now the director of OMA, comes to the College with a background in working in higher education. She has worked at the University of Hartford as the associate director of affinity alumni engagement for three years, and for two years at Syracuse University as the coordinator of mentoring programs, where she focused on  mentoring and mental health advocacy. The Office of Multicultural Affairs has long been a hub for cultural programming, dialogue on identity and leadership development. With new leadership, students can expect fresh opportunities to engage in and promote events that highlight cultural expression and promote cross-community understanding, as mentioned in a recent MAC mixer the Office hosted on Sept. 11, 2025. OMA serves as a home base for cultural student organizations, helping them access resources, organize events and build leadership skills. Through workshops and conversations, OMA supports students in engaging with complex issues of identity, equity and belonging.
