The Residential Learning Community Team announced last Wednesday that lottery numbers will no longer be used in the housing selection process, and, instead, housing selection will be based on class year. The process will now use a different online housing platform called eRezLife.
Based on the email sent March 8, the entire rising senior class (Class of 2024) has first priority for selection, with their selection date on Tuesday, April 25. The succeeding classes will choose in order, with the Class of 2025 on April 26 and Class of 2026 on April 27-28. The email states that townhouse selection begins the earliest on April 24, but it is unclear how it changes, if at all, with non-rising seniors choosing to live in a townhouse.
With this new system, students will be given a randomly assigned time slot by the housing platform for choosing a housing assignment. The email verifies that size, composition or lack of roommate group will not improve or worsen one’s random time slot.
The off-campus housing policies are still the same as years before, with the same approval process and rules. These rules include barring rising sophomores—this year the Class of 2026—from living off-campus. The $2,500 penalty is still in place if students choose to live off-campus without approval.
Roommate groups should complete the application agreement on the eRezLife platform between March 27-April 14 and should have their groups formed and room preferences ranked by Sunday, April 23. The email states that additional detailed housing selection information should be sent out no later than Wednesday, March 15.
