The start to the Trinity College Women’s Volleyball season was nothing short of exhilarating, as Head Coach Jen Bowman sealed her 400th career win as a volleyball coach in a 3-0 win versus the University of Saint Joseph. The Bantams opened their season on September 6th at home in Oosting Gymnasium and secured all three sets for the win. Senior captain Molly Bernstein had an impressive start to her season, with five kills, two aces, and three blocks. Junior Molly Bernstein also contributed greatly to the Bantam win, recording seven kills and one block. Bantam sophomores Ava Boloyan and Eva Lekovic added to the stats, both registering five kills each.
The Bantams then returned to action on Friday, September 9th in a nail-biting home battle versus Eastern Connecticut State University. The Bantams started down two sets but were able to dominate in the third and fourth sets, forcing the match into a fifth. Despite the valiant effort made by the Bantams, they fell 15-9 in the final set, ending the match with a score of 3-2 in favor of Eastern Connecticut State. Junior Lola Craig dominated the scoreboard, with 12 kills, two aces, and two blocks while sophomore Ava Boloyan recorded an impressive 10 kills and one block.
The tough loss to Eastern Connecticut State clearly added fueled and sparked the Bantam’s fire, as they dominated their doubleheader on Saturday, September 10th versus Worcester State University and the University of New England. In what was the first away game for the squad this season, they controlled the court versus Worcester State in a 3-0 sweep and continued their run that same day with a 3-1 win versus the University of New England. It is no surprise that junior Lola Craig earned ‘Bantam of the Week’ honors, as she showcased dominant performances in both matches, totaling a stunning 18 kills in both contests.
The Bantams open up NESCAC play on Saturday, September 17th in a home battle versus the Tufts University Jumbos. Roll Bants!
