Unsurprisingly, the Trinity Men and Women’s squash teams swept through the NESCAC squash tournament with little resistance. Each team claimed their 10th consecutive tournament victory. For teams in the NESCAC, there is not much excitement about which team will win the tournament, that is almost always certain. The real prize for other schools is to claim the coveted second place trophy.
For the women’s competition, the Bants beat the Williams Ephs 9-0. In the men’s competition, the final score was 7-2 over Bates College. One of the wins from the Bates Bobcats top player Ahmed Abdel Khalek, who also was last year’s College Squash Association’s individual champion as a freshman.
Looking forward to the National Championships, the men sit at the number one ranked position followed by the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University.
The Trinity women sit at the 5th slot behind Harvard, UPenn, Princeton and Yale . Both teams have proven to be exceptional among easy conference competition, but still have a few teams to fend off in order to bring home the National Cup.
The finals will be held on Feb. 19-21 in New Haven, CT, with Yale University serving as the primary host.
