Women’s Lacrosse had great success against NESCAC rival Williams on Mar. 5 with a 12-5 victory in Williamstown, Mass. Tri-Captain Martha Griffin ’16 scored four goals, and had one assist to lead the visiting Trinity squad. This win was not a surprise for the Bantams as they have beat the Ephs in the past eight matchups.
Goalie Zoe Ferguson ’18 made four saves for the Bantams in the first half, secondary goalkeeper Emily Mooney ’16 stopped seven of nine shots to keep the gap wide for Trinity
After a scoreless first nine minutes, Griffin scored the first goal of the game. The Ephs answered shortly after when first year Emma Tenbarge outdid Ferguson to put Williams on the scoreboard. Trinity scored two of the next three goals including a pair by sophomore attacker Allie Barrett ’18. At the end of the half Clare Lyne ’17 put one in the back of the net late in the first period to give the Bantams a solid 5-3 lead.
Trinity broke out of halftime with five-goal streak in a just as many minutes to demoralize the Ephs and establish a 10-3 lead. The Ephs made a weak attempt to retaliate by adding two goals, but Griffin answered with two goals for Trinity to seal the deal for the Bantam victory. First-year goalie Ana Alvarenga made seven saves for the Ephs. The no. 2 ranked Bantams hope to carry forward their momentum with more games this week beginning with Stevens on Mar. 9.
