Last weekend, the Title IX office hosted a controversial “Do-It-Day.” The day, meant to bring awareness to domestic assault and campus violence, was held on Gates quad complete with food trucks, live music, and t-shirt cannons.

The music set, headlined by R. Kelly, was well attended by over 500 people. The event was advertised as a bonding event by Title IX and WAGRAC. When asked why they chose to attend the event, Anita Stroker ‘25 said “Hell yea, why not!”

“I fear I was misled.” another attendee reported to the Tripod. Indeed, the name of the event generated some confusion for students and faculty alike. “The ‘Do-It’ was supposed to refer to ‘do bring awareness,’”clarified a WAGRAC representative. “I cannot imagine that we would be held responsible for such a wild misinterpretation. That is not our fault.”

When confronted with student backlash to what some called an “inappropriate choice of musical guests” and “meh tacos” from the food trucks, The office of Title IX was quick to defend their intentions. “I’m sorry you losers don’t know how to have fun.” their official statement read.

The day concluded with mixed feelings. Some student protesters filed a formal complaint about the presence of R. Kelly, who has a history of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct with minors. Title IX responded to the concerned students within 5-10 business days, saying “How were we supposed to know? Not my job!” One administrator had enough of the ungratefulness of Trinity students, adding “God, we’re always the bad guy, huh? You guys can never just shut up and say ‘thank you.’” The formal complaint was promptly abandoned, with the promise that it would be looked into at a later date.

Despite the backlash, the Title IX office still considers the event wildly successful, citing that it was better attended than their normal programming (No reference found). On a completely unrelated note, the head of the department has stepped down, leaving Trinity to search for the tenth Title IX coordinator this year. The position is now being advertised on Craigslist.com to “literally whoever.”
